Processed mother-of-pearl is known as “Najeon,”
and lacquered objects are referred to as “Chilgi.”
When these two traditional crafts are combined,
the work is commonly called “Najeonchilgi,” or mother-of-pearl lacquerware.
This piece follows the traditional craftsmanship of Najeonchilgi
while embodying Ottio’s unique sensibility and design language.
It reinterprets the form and function of the Sobahn —
a traditional Korean low table used in floor-seated culture —
in a contemporary way.
The tabletop can be separated and used as a plate,
while the lower box provides storage for tea utensils or small objects,
adding practical functionality to its refined form.
<Product Notes>
All Ottio products are handcrafted, with every process completed by skilled artisans.
Due to the handmade nature of the work, slight variations in size and shape may occur.
Minor marks, subtle unevenness, or traces of lacquer flow may appear during production.
Small color differences can occur during the refining (color mixing) and drying stages of the lacquer process.
Although the lacquer finish provides a durable surface, it may be damaged if dropped or exposed to sharp edges or strong impact.
Please handle with care, especially around the corners, which can be more susceptible to chipping.<Product Notes>
