Description
“Lizard” is a ceramic work that functions as a vertical growing system capable of cultivating plants without soil, using only water and a small motor. Water flows through the central column and reaches the roots of the plants on each level, allowing them to grow. The piece is built with a fully functional structure designed for this purpose.
This work is considered artist Gangryu’s signature piece.
The name “Lizard” originated from a friend’s question:
“If you were born again, what would you like to be?”
The artist was inspired by the image of a lizard hanging stably from a ceiling, which resembled the plants suspended within the vertical growing system—thus giving the work its name.
