I am MinKyu Lee, an artist who visualizes the invisible.
Unfathomable depths, possibilities that remain even though they were never chosen what cannot be seen does not mean it does not exist. Through wood and metal, I give sculptural form to what lies just before taking shape, or what exists beyond form.

'Parallax' explores the intersection between functional furniture and two-dimensional art. Borrowing techniques from monochrome painting traditions, I employed precise gauge work to create textured surfaces that evoke painterly expressions. The design deliberately incorporates crossed elements rather than solid surfaces, creating an optical illusion where the piece appears visually blocked from both side and front perspectives. The rhythmic arrangement of exposed shelves and structural lines generates fragmented reflections, inviting viewers into a more immersive visual experience that shifts between dimensions.

'100 Trees' functions as a shelf while exploring spatial perception through material repetition. Identical wooden planks are continuously stacked and layered. The metal hardware is finished to mirror-like reflectivity, creating reflections. This treatment invites viewers to experience a psychological sensation of being drawn into the depths of the work.

This work explores the relationship between light and material, gaze and perception through three distinct surfaces—a perfectly reflective smooth surface, a matte black flat surface, and a partially light-reflecting carved texture.
By forming a space where presence and absence, reflection and absorption, and immediate perception intersect, this piece encourages viewers to actively engage with these relationships.

The curved metal plates express the trajectory of life, while the two cylinders positioned at the center represent points of divergence along this path. The form where the metal plates meet the cylinders and deflect embodies the moments in life when unexpected encounters redirect our course. This deflection suggests not merely a change in direction, but a creative moment of entering a space of new possibilities.
What this work presents is not simply a directional shift, but a creative moment of entering a realm of new possibilities. Though a fixed sculpture, this piece captures the moment of dynamic change and transformation, inviting viewers to contemplate the divergences in their own lives and the infinite possibilities that emerge from them.

'Diverging moment in black' visualizes the moments of choice we encounter, when paths diverge. The lines represent the trajectories of lives, while the two black circles positioned between them mark points of divergence along these paths. Just as lines bend when they meet these diverging points, our lives too change direction through unexpected moments.
This is not merely a change of direction, however a creative moment of entering a space of new possibilities. This work reveals the movement and flow that persist despite such uncertainty, and the new paths generated through divergence.

A hanger is an object used to hang clothes. However, unlike a wardrobe, it cannot fully conceal clothing—it must reveal them. This creates the possibility that unwanted colors become exposed in a space, disrupting its atmosphere.
The hanger in the 'Hidden' series addresses this problem by concealing clothes, but not completely—the degree of exposure varies depending on movement. From certain positions, only the color of the clothing is perceived; from others, only its silhouette.
The stool inside the hanger follows the circular form of the hanger, creating a fan shape. The stool is finished in black to minimize its presence, hiding behind the hanger.
