작가 소개

Where Korean landscapes are sculpted into contemporary lacquer objects.

Jaak dang, led by artist Yunmi Kim, reinterprets the poetic spirit of Korean jingyeong sansu—true-view landscapes—into contemporary wooden and lacquered objects.
Mountains, skies, clouds, and rocks are translated into refined sculptural forms, crafted through a structural interplay of solid wood and bamboo weaving. This architectural approach offers a modern reinterpretation of the traditional soban, a Korean wooden side table valued for its functional beauty.

Colored lacquer expresses the tones of nature, while natural lacquer enhances depth, durability, and material richness. The result is a series of objects that merge traditional craftsmanship with modern sensibilities—quiet yet powerful pieces that bring the harmony of Korean landscapes into everyday living.

Jaak dang’s work bridges the past and present, offering objects that are both artful and functional, carrying within them the cultural memory of Korean craft and the serene beauty of nature.
